Fawzia
Khan and the "Neither East Nor West Band" at Cafe Vivaldi.

Fawzia
has made an exemplary opening at Vivaldi to bring a new Indie Jazz combined with
the bass, flute, tablas, keyboard/synthesizer to a new a new art form that would
make Philip Glass peer through the windows and not just take a glimpse at the
band but be able to sit down for a cup of Latte and finish up with the last
note. The crowd sat with a kind of stupor and impacted them to become focused
and poignant to the very sounds they want to hear and speak to the musicians
during the break. The medley of ragas from the likes of Hindustani and
Bhairavi mellowed with the repertoire of songs where Fawzia felt delighted
to reach all the cadences and deliver with great aplomb. The were the
tabla percussion flow from Naren who marvelously kept the evening on their
nimble toes to tap with delight and the flute and bass, keyboards had a complete
symphonic affect on the very audience to capture either minds, eyes, smiles,
memories or just a wonderful evening to not reminisce with the past but look at
the future happening right here in downtown Greenwich of New York City.
The
band is likely to get to new places and look for future performances in all
black but any other color. If you happen to come across them, don't forget to
buy yourself a tall glass of wine or perhaps the very bottle may just lie empty
on the table and never the halves (full/empty).
You
can reach this band through Talent Asia Music Division.
