Aspiring/experienced film makers,
This may be your good chance to finally make that short film that you have
been dreaming about. If you have your script ready (less than 20mins), I
could offer a FREE camera and light package(worth something like $25000)
and also shoot it for FREE if the whole shoot could be done in few days.
Why am I doing this?
I am a full time film-maker based in NYC. Learnt film making at New York
Film Academy. Currently promoting my experimental short - Raison D'etre
and also in post production of a comedy feature Indian Fish (www.Indianfish-themovie.com).
Little burnt out after several months of non-stop activities and need
little fresh air. So I am slowing down and doing something I haven't done
for long like being a tourist with a still camera, catching up with
reading.. etc. So its just a free service - like you volunteer for your
local library sometimes..
What will qualify (and what will not):
- no si-fi movies please.
- Sensible script that you'd be proud to send to the film-festivals
- Music videos..ummm not too keen -unless idea is good
- Not a biographical sketch about your nanny or gran'pa unless audience
have already heard about them.
- the main thing is - please be serious about your movie
- Be organized, clear and in love with your script
- Out of NYC could be considered but not preferred

THE SHORT FILM:
Father (Indian): Late 40's. Emigrated from India to the US two decades ago but will not change and assimilate. Strict, rigid, religious Indian father. Hard work and little play shows on exterior appearance.
Mother (Indian): Late 30's/Early 40's. More flexible but also relatively conservative.
Daughter 1 (Indian): Very Westernized, rebellious, slightly misguided. 17-18 years old. Party animal into hard rock. Smoker.
Daughter 2 (Indian): The good daughter. Prefer classical singer or Bharatnatyam dancer or both. 15-16 years old.
Boyfriend (Caucasian): Musician in a hard rock band. Prefer individuals currently in a real hard rock, punk, grunge band seeking to promote their music through a short film. 19-22 years old.
THE FEATURE FILM:
Lead to be played by a Hollywood star who played a major role along-side Robin Williams (already signed).
CEO Dad (Indian): Mid-to-Late 40's. Looks young, fit, and brilliant. Run's Multi-Billion Dollar Technology Company. Also, caring father and husband who spends time with family. Well-balanced. Plays golf. Drives a Mercedes or Jag.
Mother (Indian): Late 30's. Social butterfly. Spends most of her time at charity events or other organizations donating time and money. Enjoys playing cards with her circle of friends once a week when they exchange all sorts of gossip. Slightly snobbish.
Daughter (Indian): 17-21 years old. Wonderful, sweet, charming, lovable, and very beautiful. Giving and caring and spends a great deal of time doing charity/volunteer work. Not affected much by wealth or material possessions. Key role.
Indian Boyfriend Wannabe: CEO Dad's Indian friend's (old college mates) son. Attracted to daughter and trying desperately to woo her. Prefer someone who is versatile in both serious dramatic roles as well as non-slapstick and slapstick comedy. Tall, dark, handsome. Into $$$ and material things. 18-22 years old.
CREW (for either project)
Location Supervisor (must be comfortable driving all over Southern California with digital camera taking location shots, negotiating with property owners and obtaining city permits as needed)
Script Supervisor (no prior experience necessary)
Unit Production Manager (prior experience necessary)
First Assistant Director (must have prior AD or DP or Asst. experience)
Director of Photography (must have DV and lighting equipment)

Most of the projects will be shot nights and weekends and there will not be any pay. These are labor of love projects and bound for film festivals around the world (goal being Sundance) and both projects are being done on a very, very tight budget. The short is being developed for $5-6K and is being self-funded and there is no compensation other than credits, copy, meals, experience, fun, and the chance to get screened at many film festivals.
