Beacon Invite you to a casting call To one of three comedy stageplay productions Of THE JUNETEENTH DREAM A comedy stageplay based on the events taken place during the civil war Seeking *Old G Williams - (a.k.a.) Sergeant Sickwell African American Male , late 20's or older, but will accept younger, must be extremely witty and comedic, smart alec type, Must have that dirty, dirty southern accent. If you can dance or skate silly, that's a plus. Corey Boone - (a.k.a.) C. Nice - African American male (lead) 14 years or older if you can look 14, Arrogant, but humorous, must be comedic and Flexible.
Pedro Lopez -(a.k.a.) Papa Son - Hispanic Male - Corey's Homey, same age, wants to be a Fashion icon, like Russell Simmons or Jay Z, Must be arrogant and Humorous.
Melissa Lopez - (Pedro's Mom) Hispanic, Female, Late 20's or early 30's can be versatile in Comedy or drama. Must have a Mom look, must be able to sing In a chorus or gospel kind of way
*Cathy Boone - (Corey's Mom)(aka) Slave Woman - African American Female, late 20's or early 30's. Must have mom look, must be able to sing in a chorus or gospel kind of way.
*Rashida Boone - (aka) Slave girl - 8 years old. African American Girl and Corey's baby sister. She must be kind of bratty, but intelligent. Personality.
*Ranger Gordon - ( a.k.a.) General Gordon Granger - Caucasian male, late 20's or older (or if younger can play older) with a southern accent (or at least pretend to have one).Must be extremely comedic and funny.
Vandals - (a.k.a.) Slavecatchers - (a.k.a.) Confederate Troops - Caucasian or light skinned males any age.. Must be extremely brutal in your mannerisms. Must have deep southern accent.
Stepdancers - (a.k.a.) Park Guests, (a.k.a.) Slavehands High school, college or sorority and fraternity stepdancers, any age. Stepdancers will have dialogue …So Learn ya lines. The Altered Ego A Poetic comedy stageplay based on the lives of three open mike Artists Seeking Rappers,Slam Poets or former slam poets or Rappers or persons with slam poet or rapper potential wishing to expand their craft by introducing it to stage theatre. Poets /Rappers will be cast as main characters. Be prepared to have a three-minute monologue either by you or recognized poet in the industry You will be asked to recite. Also seeking Uncle Kootnoot-African American male, Late 20's or early 30's with a dirty south accent. Must be funny looking Cousin Bellybutton-Dumb, thug type any age or race male or female, must be able to talk like Bro Man from "Martin". Nana- Must be the Grandma type, Male or female any age or race but must be able to have a slow deep southern accent. You must look older than 18 and have a set in your ways approach…you will be either used as Voiceover or actual character depending on how you appear.
Also seeking anyone interested in learning behind the scenes work as Sound technicians, stage hands, production assistants, etc.
A Batterer's Burden A Dramedy story about the the various facets of violence, the people it affects and the mystery behind a sneaker…If the shoe fits, we are Seeking Jamel- African American or Hispanic male early teens or older.must be tall. He is An abusive soon to be basketball player with rising opportunities to make it in the NBA but can’t stop the verbal abuse he gives his girlfriend Rakiyah: African American or Hispanic Female early teens or older Jamel’s girlfriend who is so devoted to Jamel that she is willing to put up with the abuse he gives her. Sandra: African American or Hispanic Female late twenties or older preferred must have a mom look. Jamel’s mom who is verbally abusive to Jamel because she knows that hitting him is not effective for her control of him. Carl-Sandra husband who is abusive to Sandra because of the constant problems he faces in the street with the up and coming thugs so he feels he needs to exert this machismo in his family in order to feel in control. Clarisse:-African American or Hispanic female, early teens or older, Rakiyah’s friend, very outspoken but very intelligent although what she says doesn’t always come out in the right way at the right time, it’s always the truth when she addresses the violent issues surrounding her friend Rakiyah. Sarah: African American or Hispanic female.Early teens or younger Clarisses’s friend, who agrees with everything Clarisse says but in humourous kind of way. She is more of a ghetto “yes girl”. Monique:-African American or Hispanic female Late teens or older Clarisse’s other friend, also a Ghetto yes girl, But just so happens to be a girlfriend of an up and coming thug named Lo Lo:-Thug who is a boyfriend of Monigue and feels he needs not only to prove himself to her as the most thorough thug in the bronx, but as the most thorough to her also. He attempts a violent robbery of Jamel Thug 1: A street thug who gets in a confrontation with Lo. Detective: Peterson A hard nosed investigator who can’t seem to figure out why all this violence is happening as he attempts to figure it out, but to no avail. Sneaker: Narrates the causes of these senseless acts of violence occurring between these characters Also seeking anyone interested in learning behind the scenes work as Sound technicians, stage hands, production assistants, either for college credits or experience are welcome.
